Step-by-Step guide to setting up a domain controller

In this first part, we install the Active Directory Domain Services role and features to our domain controller.
  1. Open Server Manager and click on Add roles and features.
  2. On the first screen in the wizard, Click Next.
  3. Make sure Role-based or feature-based installation is checked and click Next through to the Server Roles page.
  4. From the list select Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), clicking Next will bring up a new box with default required features for AD DS, click Add Features.
  5. Clicking Next through the remainder of the wizard to the confirmation page and then Install.
  6. And then finally, once the install is complete, Close.
